The Igbo cultural carnival, Valencia 2014 with the theme “Igbo Nile Bu Ofu” was held in Valencia, on the 23rd August ¡, 2014. It was organized by the Igbo Improvement Union, Valencia, with the aim of showcasing the uniqueness and beauty of the rich Igbo culture and tradition.

The event was attended by important dignitaries from Spain, Nigeria and other parts of Europe, among which were Her Excellency, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ambassador of Nigeria to the Kingdom of Spain, accompanied by officers of the Embassy of Nigeria in Span, His Royal Highness, Igwe Peter Chukwu, Chief Mischak Nnanta, President General of Igbo World Union amongst others.

Highlight of the event were cultural procession by the different cultural groups in major streets of Valencia, speech by Her Excellency, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, cultural dances, cultural display by kids, and presentation of Awards of Excellence to deserving members of public who have impacted positively to the development of Igbos in particular and Nigeria in general.

Her Excellency, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu in her speech admonished Nigerians to continue to be good citizens of Nigeria wherever the find themselves, as well to endeavor to promote the good image of our country their conduct. She enjoined them to shun crime and all negative acts that could endanger their lives and that of their neighbors as well as cast Nigeria in bad light. She promised to ensure that Nigerians of all persuasions are protected in all circumstances.
